2010
for most people a new year is a fresh start. 2010 was the most painful and difficult year of my life, so i’m happy to say goodbye. i can’t say it was exactly the worst year in my life because of the old and new friends, roommates and team of doctors who have been saving my life and helping me through the year. happy healthy new year <3

all i want for christmas is, you?
this year when i was asked to make a Christmas list, i couldn’t think of anything to write down. everything i would ask for isn’t something that you can buy at the store. all i wanted for Christmas this year was to be rid of Lyme Disease. unfortunately, i didn’t get what i wanted, but that’s life. probably next year :)

"you're like the sphinx, i just don't understand...
In Greek mythology, the Sphinx sat outside of Thebes and asked this riddle of all travelers who passed by. If the traveler failed to solve the riddle, then the Sphinx killed him/her. And if the traveler answered the riddle correctly, then the Sphinx would destroy herself. The riddle: What goes on four legs in the morning, on two legs at noon, and on three legs in the evening? Oedipus...

insomniatic
sleeping and chronic fatigue become one of the worst parts about this disease. not only does it take an incredibly long time to fall asleep, but you never stay asleep. if you aren’t up at least every other hour its a good night. i used to average waking up 12-17 times per night, but it got better for a while. lately its going back downhill. waking up exhausted, as if you never slept in the...

and i wonder if you know what it means to find...
in the darkest of days, i feel like there’s no hope. like i’m caught in a cycle of poverty that i can’t escape. like i’m riding a roller coaster with multiple upside down loops that doesn’t even have a seatbelt. it’s like i’m hanging on for dear life. somedays i even wonder if this is how i am going to die. Lyme Disease kills people. but most of the time i...

Misdiagnosis
Many chronic Lyme patients undergo misdiagnosis for many years. I displayed my first symptoms in December 2005. Knee pain: 3 different orthopedists and 1 rheumatologist. Given 3 misdiagnoses, 1 “there’s nothing wrong with you.” Months of physical therapy followed by Knee Surgery and 6 more months of physical therapy followed by another “there’s nothing wrong with you.” Stomach pain, bloating,...
